What an excellent day out this was.
Went out to Borth for the day with Jules and kids in tow. Dropped of young
Al opposite the Golden Sands caravan park to meet his mate on the beach
then headed down to the estuary.
The idea was for Jules to get some practise in the flat water but the wind
was a very light NE when we arrived. So I rigged the 9.0m to try it out.
Didn't get going at first and the current was going with the wind so came
in and suggested to Jules not to launch.
Then the wind went NW maybe a sea breeze! Went back out and got planning
just nicely powered up. Superb, shorts, rashy, shades and bare foot gliding
across the mirror flat water ;-)
After a few great runs the wind dropped a touch so I came in and helped
Jules rig up a 5.0m wave sail. The wind filled back in a bit stronger a
good F4. Jules went out now with the wind opposing the current so nice 'n
safe. She had some good runs with a bit of speed, practising turns and
beach starts etc.
When she'd done I took the board out and actually got planning a bit with
the 5.0m then tried a session of heli-tacks with a bit more wind that last
week. Made a few but some led to very fast rig twirls and a fair few
dunkings, still good to entertain the holiday makers ;-)
After a nice late picnic lunch we packed up and headed down the sea front
to where we'd dropped off Al earlier. Right another session me thinks
;-)
